IAAB Works for Students: Camp Ayandeh 2011; IAAB Campus Action Network; Student Hub; and much more!

May 16, 2011, Washington, D.C.- Iranian Alliances Across Borders (IAAB) is proud to be working with the youth of the Iranian American community for the past 8 years.  In 2011, IAAB continues its flagship programs, Camp Ayandeh and Student Summit, and has launched a plethora of new programs targeted directly at youth empowerment. 

  • Camp Ayandeh 2011 will be held at Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, California from June 29th-July 6th.  Going into its sixth year, Camp Ayandeh provides Iranian-American high school students from across the country with a positive, inclusive environment where they have the opportunity to develop leadership skills, foster strong friendships, and gain a deeper understanding of their Iranian culture and identity as the youth of the Iranian diaspora community.  Camp Ayandeh is open to all high school students.  Apply now for what many refer to as “the highlight of the summer.” For more information on Camp Ayandeh 2011, including camper applications, please visit www.iranianalliances.org/camp. 
  • IAAB  Campus Action Network, known as I-CAN, is the largest national network of affiliated university and high school student groups, with over 30 universities affiliated with I-CAN thus far.   • Leadership in Action Fellowship is open to all university and graduate students and young professionals who are already proven leaders in their communities.  The LIA Fellowship program will allow leaders the opportunity to create an implement a program that will directly impact their local Iranian diaspora community.  Fellows will receive training and mentorship from IAAB for their project, as well as a stipend to implement their project.  Applications for Fall LIA Fellows are due in July: www.iranianalliances.org/programs/liafellowships
  • Student Summit is the largest gathering of Iranian American university student leaders.  Going into its third year, IAAB’s Student Summit is an opportunity for students nationwide to gather for 2 days and participate in a program packed with leadership training and critical discussions about the Iranian American community.  Student Summit 2011 will take place in the fall in Washington, DC.   • Student Hub is a central space that connects students to one another and provides a wealth of resources for student leaders about how to run meetings, how to recruit and maintain volunteers, how to set goals and plan effectively, how to fundraise, etc.  Visit IAAB’s Student Hub: www.iranianalliances.org/studenthub

Established in 2003 by students at Wellesley College and Tufts University in Boston, Massachusetts, Iranian Alliances Across Borders is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, non-partisan organization with a young, dedicated staff.  IAAB addresses issues of the Iranian Diaspora by facilitating community building, developing ways to better understand what it means to be part of a diaspora community, and helping members of the Iranian Diaspora community enhance connections with their new communities as well as maintain connections with their root community.
