Employment and Internship Opportunities

Internship Opportunities:

The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is seeking motivated undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate interns to join our Washington, D.C. team. Internships offer hands-on experience in public affairs, advocacy, communications, and civic leadership — providing a meaningful opportunity to contribute to PAAIA’s mission of advancing the voice and participation of Iranian Americans in American civic life.

Interns work directly with senior staff and are integral members of a small, fast-paced team committed to building civic engagement, fostering leadership, and strengthening representation. All internships are based in Washington, D.C. and may include opportunities to attend events, assist with briefings, and collaborate across departments. Some familiarity or connection with the Iranian American community is encouraged but not required.

Communications & Civic Leadership Internship

The Communications & Civic Engagement Intern will support PAAIA’s public communications, educational programming, and community initiatives. Responsibilities include drafting and posting content across platforms, assisting with event promotion, supporting photography and video projects, and helping manage updates to the PAAIA and Civic Leadership Program (CLP) websites. The intern will also assist in outreach efforts to engage program participants, fellows, and alumni.

Ideal candidates have strong writing and organizational skills, an eye for visual detail, and interest in public affairs, communications, or civic engagement. Experience with design or content management systems is preferred.

Open to undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate students.

Applications close Dec. 8

Internship expected to begin Jan. 5

Please send your resume and cover letter to info@paaia.org to schedule an interview.

Legislative Affairs Internship

The Legislative Affairs Intern will assist PAAIA’s legislative and advocacy work on Capitol Hill. Responsibilities include conducting policy research, tracking legislation, drafting issue briefs, and supporting congressional outreach. The intern will also have opportunities to join meetings with Members of Congress, staff, and partner organizations — gaining firsthand experience in federal advocacy and community representation.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong analytical and writing skills, attention to detail, and an interest in government, public policy, or advocacy.

Postgraduate students or advanced undergraduates with prior policy or research experience are preferred.
