Statement: Iranian Security Forces’ Siege of University Protesters is Deeply Disturbing

Washington, DC – Today, the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) issued the following statement in response to disturbing reports of a violent siege conducted this past weekend by Iranian security forces against students at universities in Tehran who were peacefully protesting: 

“What happened at the universities in Tehran this past weekend is incredibly horrifying.” PAAIA said, adding “we condemn the reprehensible use of violence against peaceful protesters in Iran.” 

PAAIA continues to closely monitor the ongoing protests in Iran following the death of Mahsa Amini, which have resulted in large numbers of reported injuries and deaths. We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and recognize their hopes and ambitions for human rights.
