PAAIA Announces Spring 2023 Capitol Hill Intern

Washington, DC – PAAIA congratulates our newest Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP) recipient, Ryan Nejadian!

Ryan Nejadian is a native of Northern Virginia and a student athlete at Howard University pursuing a degree in Political Science and playing as a goalkeeper for the university’s Division 1 soccer team. A freshman, Ryan has received an academic honors recognition by the Northeast Conference and established the Undergraduate Political Science Honors Society. This Spring, Ryan will be interning with Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton (D-VA).

The Capitol Hill Internship Program offers Iranian American students and recent graduates an opportunity to learn about the legislative process by interning with a Member of Congress. During the internship, PAAIA provides CHIP recipients a stipend as well as mentorship lunches with Iranian American congressional staff and federal officials.

Since launching CHIP, PAAIA has helped over 20 young Iranian Americans to obtain internships on Capitol Hill. For many, the Capitol Hill Internship Program is what gets their foot in the door in Washington, DC, and the stipend provided serves as a crucial financial assistance to students. Several of our past Capitol Hill interns have continued to work in Congress, including one who currently works full-time for a high-profile Senator.

If you’d like to help us continue to empower young Iranian Americans to gain critical leadership experience in the American political process, please consider donating to the Civic Leadership Program!
