On October 15th, 2022, dozens were injured, and an unknown number died after a fire started at Tehran’s Evin Prison, infamously known as where political prisoners Siamak Namazi, Emad Shargi, and others are being unjustly held. PAAIA and PARS are actively monitoring developments around this incident as international groups work to uncover what happened.
The families of those imprisoned at Evin Prison as well as all the Iranian people deserve accountability and justice for the untold numbers of deaths, injuries, and human rights abuses across Iran in recent weeks. PAAIA and PARS urge the United Nations Human Rights Council to take action and stand with the people of Iran.
