IAPAC Endorses the Campaign of Azizi

“Thank you for the endorsement as well as the financial contribution to my campaign,” said Azizi. “I truly appreciate it! It means a great deal to me to have the support of the Iranian American community. We have come a long way and still have a long way to go. I hope to be part of that leadership in the community, making the differences to move us forward.”
A long time resident of Atlanta, Azizi is committed to improving Atlanta one step at a time so that the city can “reach her true potential.” Azizi will face five other opponents for the District 6 open seat, and is the second Iranian American running for a seat on Atlanta’s City Council in this election year. The other Iranian American candidate, lawyer Amir Farokhi, is running for Atlanta City Council’s At-Large seat.
Born in Houston, Texas, Azizi spent most of her childhood growing up in Kuwait. She returned to the United States to attend Michigan State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and biotechnology. Azizi then moved to Atlanta to pursue a doctorate from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and upon her completion joined the staff of the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2005. With her multi-cultural upbringing and analytical mindset, Azizi is confident she can help tackle the tough issues facing Atlanta. Of these, crime, the city’s budget, and transportation are the main focus of her campaign.
