Here’s How You Can Help Earthquake-Affected Families in Iran

WASHINGTON – In an effort to highlight some of the ways in which Americans can provide humanitarian assistance to the Iranian people, the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) has put together a list of several organizations that Iranian Americans have contributed to after the earthquake.

Relief International, an international organization started by an Iranian American, is an approved partner for emergency response efforts in Iran and stands ready to serve affected communities as the need arises. Created in response to Iran’s 1990 Manjil-Rudbar earthquake, Relief International is one of the only international organizations authorized to address emergencies in Iran, and their teams began responding within hours to the devastating November 12th earthquake that destroyed both homes and lives on the Iran-Iraq border. Child Foundation, an international charity organization that helps children living in poverty remain in school, is focusing its resources on helping those devastated by the earthquake and has set up an emergency fund to assist those who are affected by this earthquake through their local office in Kermanshah. All donations will be spent to the earthquake victims. Click here to learn more about Child Foundation, and click here to donate today.

Children of Persia, a charity organization which helps disadvantaged Iranian children and their families, is joining forces with their partner in Iran, Nikan/Mammut Charity, and Popli Khalatbari Foundation, their partner in England, to form a consortium that will raise and distribute funds to help those affected by the earthquake. Mother’s Against Poverty, a charity organization with the mission to nurture and educate underprivileged children to their fullest potential so that they can contribute and lead within their own communities, has been working in Iran since 2010. 100 percent of donations collected from this campaign will go toward earthquake relief and reconstruction.
