Dr. Akbar Ghahary Elected Chairman of Encyclopaedia Iranica Foundation

Dr. Akbar Ghahary, Ph.D., has been elected by Encyclopaedia Iranica’s Board of Trustees as the new Chairman of the foundation.

Dr. Ghahary is a political activist, philanthropist and long-time advocate and supporter for promoting Persian culture and bringing awareness of Iran’s contribution to world civilization.

The Encyclopaedia Iranica, a project of Columbia University’s Center for Iranian Studies, is a research tool for specialists, students and general readers interested in various disciplines of the humanities as they concern Iranian studies and related fields such as Middle Eastern, Central Asian, and Indic studies.
