San Francisco, CA, October 6, 2011 – With just little over a month away from Election Day, two successful Iranian American candidates in San Francisco continue to gain momentum with new endorsements and high praise.
In addition to an extensive list of elected, labor, and community endorsements, San Francisco Supervisor Ross Mirkarimi’s campaign for Sheriff picked up a key endorsement from the San Francisco Bay Guardian, an influential newspaper launched in 1966 and known for reporting, celebrating, and promoting progressive issues.
Washington, D.C., October 5, 2011 – President Obama last week named ninety-four researchers as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers, the highest honor bestowed by the United States government on science and engineering professionals in the early stages of their independent research careers. Three highly accomplished Iranian American scientists and engineers were selected for their pursuit of innovative research at the frontiers of science and technology and their commitment to community service as demonstrated through scientific leadership, public education, or community outreach.
Irvine, CA, October 3, 2011 – October 1st, 2011 marked the 10th Anniversary of the Irvine Global Village Festival in Irvine, CA. Each year the City of Irvine hosts the Irvine Global Village Festival, featuring cultural entertainment, food from around the world, community partners, exhibitors, and activities reflecting Irvine’s diverse population. PAAIA’s Orange County Chapter hosted a booth at the Festival featuring information on PAAIA and community resources for Iranian Americans including the new CalOptima Persian language resource.
