Mary Apick Honored as Actress and Activist
October 27, 2010, Los Angeles, CA – Mary Apick, award winning actress and producer, was honored by the American Armenian Chamber of Commerce (AACC) at its annual Armenian American Women in Business Excellence Luncheon in Glendale, California on October 16, 2010.
The event serves to celebrate the accomplishments of Armenian American women who are recognized as business and community leaders. This year the AACC honored twelve women for their success in business and commitment to community service. Apick was honored with the Women in Entertainment Award for her exemplarily work as an actress and on human rights issues affecting women and children in Iran and the Middle East.
Born in Tehran, Iran, Apick is the first Iranian actress to win the Best Actress Award from the Moscow International Film Festival. Her recent Critic’s Choice play, Beneath the Veil, has been presented at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Lincoln Center in New York City and Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles. A devoted human rights activist, Apick has served as a United Nations Good Will Ambassador and has been committed to improving conditions for women and children around the world.
