In July 2015, the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) launched a national communications campaign to lend support for President Obama’s diplomatic achievement. The purpose of the communications campaign is to ensure that the general public, our lawmakers and opinion makers are better aware of the Iranian American community’s broad support for the nuclear accord reached between the international powers and Iran.

Senator GrahamOn May 22, 2015, Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina addressed the Southern Republican Leadership Conference, where he made a prejudiced statement against Iranians. “Everything I know about the Iranians I learned in the pool room…I met a lot of liars and I know the Iranians are lying.” In response, thirty-seven prominent Iranian Americans, consisting of current and former government officials, foreign policy experts, scientists, business leaders, authors and media personalities, sent an open letter urging the 2016 presidential candidates to refrain from broad generalizations about the Iranian people when discussing the prospective nuclear agreement taking shape between the P5+1 and Iran. |
