The Iranian Student Group at UCLA Presents Senior Diplomat Ramin Asgard

ISG in sponsorship with PAAIA invites you to a close and personal encounter with Ramin Asgard, the most senior Iranian American State Department Foreign Service officer and Political Advisor to General David Petraeus at U.S. Central Command in Florida. The event is a rare opportunity for anyone interested in learning about and pursuing a career in government, especially in the State Department.

At CENTCOM, Mr. Asgard’s work is focused on Iran, Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Arabian Peninsula. Prior to that, he served as Director of the Iran Regional Presence Office (IRPO) in Dubai, the US government’s primary field operation related to Iran.

Mr. Asgard has been the recipient of many awards, among them, the 2007 Secretary’s Award for Public Outreach, the 2003 Charles Cobb Award for Trade Promotion, three Superior Honor Awards, and six Meritorious Honor Awards.

Please join ISG and PAAIA for a vibrant mixer and Q&A.  Mr. Asgard will share information about foreign service and the importance of joining the ranks of Iranian Americans who serve in the field. He will talk about his experiences, answer your questions, and provide advice on how to pursue a career in the U.S. government.
