PAAIA’s 2024 Civic Leaders Summer Summit Application is OPEN!
As you start thinking about the summer, it’s time to make sure that your high schoolers have fun and fulfilling plans!
For the third year in a row, the Civic Leadership Program is hosting our Civic Leaders Summit (July 8-14) at American University! This competitive program invites Iranian American high schoolers to Washington, D.C. for an inspiring week that will impart the skills and experiences needed to become leaders while exploring future career prospects in public service.
Summit participants will learn how to make a positive impact through dialogue, engagement, and hands-on experiences in the heart of America’s democracy. Activities will include meetings with elected officials, policy experts, and social impact leaders.
The Civic Leaders Summer Summit is designed to build a lasting community of highly motivated and accomplished peers bonded by their shared identity and passion for making change. You can learn more about the 2024 Civic Leaders Summit here.
The application opens today, February 7th, and will remain open until April 14th. All current high school students are eligible.

Here are the details:
What: Week-long summer summit for Iranian American high schoolers interested in exploring civic leadership including community organizing, advocacy, policy, or government.
When: July 8 – July 14, 2024
Who: Current high school students who identify as Iranian American
Where: American University | Washington, D.C.
Programming: We are planning an exciting week of educational and fun activities, including hearing from Iranian American leaders in public policy, exploring Washington DC, and the following:
- Panel discussions with policy and advocacy experts
- Visit to Capitol Hill and meetings with Senators and Representatives
- Explore cultural and historical sites
- Group dinners and more!
Schedule specifics, including speakers and field trips, will be announced as confirmed.
Application Requirements: All applicants must be current high school students as of February 2024 (including graduating seniors). As part of your application, you will need include a resume and two short question responses when applying. The deadline to submit your application is April 14th.
Cost: $2,200 per participant to cover room, board, meals, and other associated expenses. Participants are responsible for their own travel to Washington, D.C. Financial assistance is available for those in need, please email Daniel@paaia.org for more information.
For priority consideration, complete the application by April 14th. Applicants are advised to apply as soon as possible to secure their spot. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis and notified within four weeks on application status.
