PAAIA’s statement on Israel’s June 12th strikes on Iran
Washington, D.C. – We at the Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) are deeply distressed and alarmed that Israel has launched military strikes on Iran that hit civilian infrastructure. As Iranian Americans, many of us have family, friends, and loved ones in Iran. Our thoughts are with all innocent civilians now facing fear, uncertainty, and the potential for escalating violence.
We condemn any military aggression that endangers civilian lives and destabilizes an already volatile region. While we recognize the longstanding and complex geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, the path forward must be guided by diplomacy, restraint, and respect for international law protecting civilians and civilian infrastructure during military conflict.
We commend President Trump’s efforts to secure a peaceful solution to Iran’s nuclear program and prevent broader regional conflict. We urge the Administration to work to de-escalate the situation and prevent a larger war, which could place American troops and personnel at risk. Before American sons and daughters are placed in conflict, we should exhaust all viable options for peace.
We stand in solidarity with the people of Iran and all innocent civilians affected by this unfolding crisis. We reaffirm our unwavering commitment to peace, justice, and the dignity of human life.
