Washington, DC – The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) today issued the following statement following the news that the House of Representatives voted to pass a War Powers Resolution to prevent a war between the United States and Iran without congressional approval:
“PAAIA commends the House of Representatives for the swift decision to vote on and pass this War Powers Resolution, and we call on the Senate to now vote on and pass this resolution as well. PAAIA is deeply concerned about the escalation of conflict between the United States and Iran. Iranian Americans want to see the promotion of human rights and democracy in Iran but oppose a war with Iran. U.S. national interests are best served by prioritizing diplomacy.”
In 2019, PAAIA launched its Diplomacy First campaign to stress the importance of diplomacy and prevent a costly war. More information about the campaign can be found here.
About PAAIA: The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, nonsectarian organization that serves the interests of Iranian Americans and represents the community before U.S. policymakers and the American public at large.
