On June 8, Vote Mark Ameli for Superior Court Judge
June 3, 2010, Los Angeles, CA – With less than a week to go before the June 8 primary election, PAAIA urges all Iranian Americans in Los Angeles County to vote for Mark Ameli for Superior Court Office No. 28. If successful, Ameli would be the first Iranian American on the Los Angeles Superior Court.
Ameli’s campaign has been gaining momentum with recent endorsements from the Metropolitan News as well as U.S. Congressman Henry Waxman (30th District of California). We are very proud that both the Mexican American Bar Association and the Los Angeles County Democratic Party have endorsed his candidacy.
“In this county, one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse spots on the planet, Ameli would be a judge with unique insights and skills that would be of value not only in his own courtroom, but in lectures to fellow jurists, if not in a cultural diversity benchbook, and in informal conversations, ” wrote the Metropolitan News.
Since 1994, Ameli has served as a judge pro term in the LA Superior Court. He has also been appointed by the Superior Court of the State of California as an arbitrator and mediator in the Judicial Arbitration and Mediation Program. In 2005 his law firm started a mediation division under the name of Diversified Dispute Resolution. Ameli is also the founding member and past president of Iranian American Lawyers Association and has served as the chairperson of the Iranian American Sheriff’s Advisory Council.
Ameli’s campaign was formally endorsed and supported by the Iranian American Political Action Committee, the connected PAC of PAAIA, in January of 2010.
