Meet PAAIA’s Fall 2023 CHIP Fellow: Anaïs Acree

Washington, DC — PAAIA congratulates our Fall 2023 Pezeshkan Capitol Hill Internship Program (CHIP) Fellow Anaïs Acree!

Born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia, Anaïs Acree is a senior studying International Affairs and Modern Languages at Georgia Institute of Technology. Having previously interned for NATO, where she worked on defense policy solutions to protect supply chain weapon logistics from cyberattacks, Anaïs is interested in foreign policy, peace engineering, diplomacy, and U.S. Intelligence-related activities. This Fall Anaïs will be interning for Congressman Austin Scott (R-GA) on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C.

Anaïs Acree, PAAIA's Fall 2023 CHIP Fellow

As an Iranian American studying international affairs, Anaïs has always been interested in the impact of government and innovative policy decisions. She hopes to use this internship to build her network and develop a greater understanding of legislative processes.

“The opportunity to contribute meaningful discoveries and analyze different global issues and their effects on diplomats and national leaders will truly be an honor and privilege,” said Anaïs. “I look forward to working with policy and congressional leaders to make an impact on key issues by sharing the voices of the unheard in our world.”

As part of PAAIA’s Civic Leadership Program, the CHIP Program offers Iranian American college students and recent graduates the opportunity to intern on Capitol Hill by providing them with a stipend, mentorship, networking, and support throughout their internships. CHIP fellows get the chance to experience the inner workings of the federal government firsthand while developing a greater understanding of and appreciation for civic engagement.

PAAIA supplements the typical congressional internship experience by providing our fellows access to Iranian American professionals working on Capitol Hill, in the administration, and in nongovernmental organizations throughout D.C. This mentorship component allows students the ability to connect their Iranian American identities with the work they’re doing, gain insight into the best paths forward for reaching their career goals, and learn directly from others who have been in their shoes.
