Iranian Americans in Orange County Rally in Support of Beth Krom for Congress

July 7, 2010, Irvine, CA – On Thursday, June 24, 2010 the members of the Persian community in Orange County hosted a fundraiser for congressional candidate, Beth Krom, at the Four Seasons restaurant in Irvine, California. Host Committee members included PAAIA Orange County Chapter Leaders Sima Hassani & Shazad Ghanbari .
Approximately 75 community and business leaders joined together over dinner to meet Beth, hear why she’s running and ask questions about the campaign. In addition, attendees were urged by prominent members of the Persian community to support Beth.
Krom, the former Mayor of Irvine and current council member has a decade-long record of reaching out and working 
collaboratively with the Persian community. She also has strong ties to the business centers in Irvine.
“ Beth deserves the community’s support in this race because of the strong cultural relationships she’s built through her role with the City of Irvine”, explained Host Committee member Farrokh Shokooh .
During her tenure as Mayor, Irvine was named “Safest Big City in America” all four years. In addition, it was voted one of the 10 best cities in America to live by Forbes Magazine and one of the “Greenest Cities” in the nation. Under Krom’s watch, the city’s budgets were balanced and reserves tripled, enabling Irvine to deal 
with the current economic downturn. Because of her extensive background in local government, Krom understands how decisions made in Washington impact local communities and wants to bring that experience to the table.
Krom is running to serve the 48th Congressional District which includes the cities of Irvine, Tustin, Newport Beach, Laguna Beach, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, Dana Point, as well as portions of San Juan Capistrano and Santa Ana.
