Iranian Americans Contribute to Richness of American Life November 26, 2013, Washington, D.C. – The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) congratulates Hamid Moghadam on being named the overall winner of the 2013 National Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of The Year and Mori Hosseini on becoming the Chairman of Florida’s State University System Board of Governors. PAAIA Applauds and Releases Information on Interim Deal with Iran November 23, 2013, Washington, D.C. – Following intensive negotiations between members of P5+1 and representatives of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) in Geneva, an interim deal on Iran’s nuclear program has been reached. This is an important first step in rebuilding relationships between the two countries. PAAIA applauds all those involved in the negotiations for their continued focus and pursuit of a diplomatic option in addressing Iran’s nuclear program. PAAIA also thanks Iranian Americans and all those who took action to ensure that policy and lawmakers clearly understood the importance of pursuing diplomacy and providing assistance to the Iranian people. PAAIA Releases Second Educational Video on Iran Sanctions November 25, 2013, Washington, D.C. – The Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian Americans (PAAIA) today released the second video in its educational series on the sanctions against Iran and what Iranian Americans need to know about how these sanctions may impact their lives. In this video, Erich Ferrari of Ferrari & Associates, P.C., discusses various myths about OFAC licenses required for transferring money and when transactions actually require an OFAC license. The videos are part of PAAIA’s effort to ensure that the Iranian American community is well-informed on issues related to U.S.- Iran relations, such as the economic sanctions, and how to follow the related laws appropriately. A First Step in Geneva A thoughtful piece on the interim nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1, which was originally published in Foreign Policy magazine by one of PAAIA’s Public Policy Advisors, Alireza Nader of the Rand Corporation. The Geneva nuclear deal between Iran and the P5+1 (United States, Britain, France, Russia, China, plus Germany) is the first real positive development in the Iranian nuclear crisis in at least 10 years. The 2002 revelation of Iran’s nuclear facilities spawned a decade of increased hostility between the United States and Iran, not to mention a heated rivalry between Tehran on one hand, and Tel Aviv and Riyadh on the other.
