Hypernova Thanks PAAIA!

Hypernova Thanks PAAIA!

By PAAIA Editorial Staff

April 8, 2010, Washington, D.C. – The NYC based band Hypernova has been continually playing sold-out shows in the lead up to this week’s release of their first album, Through the Chaos. An outstanding achievement, considering that the band only came to the United States in March of 2007 after years of playing in the underground music scene in Tehran. Unfortunately for Hypernova, a number of performances in Canada earlier this year found a bitter ending when three of the band members were told that their clearance to return to the U.S. had not come through. That’s when the band’s manager, Reza Davoodi, reached out to PAAIA for help and advice.

PAAIA decided to seek the assistance of both Senator Charles Schumer and Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney in order to facilitate Hypernova’s return. Luckily, the visas were soon cleared and the band was able to return to the United States in time for the release of their album. In an interview with us, lead singer Raam thanked PAAIA for putting the band in touch with both Senator Schumer and Congresswoman Maloney; “PAAIA’s proactive role and extraordinary network helped us build connections that are vitally important for our band. We are grateful for the support of the Iranian American Community and look forward to sharing our new album with the PAAIA family.”
