Congratulates Ramin Asgard on his Appointment as the New Director of
Voice of America – Persian News Network

Washington, D.C. –
The
Public Affairs Alliance for Iranian Americans (PAAIA) would like to
congratulate Ramin Asgard on his appointment as the new Director of
Voice of America– Persian News Network.

Mr.
Asgard is currently the highest ranking Iranian American career Foreign
Service Officer with the U.S. Department of State. He recently served
as a Political Advisor to General David Petraeus and General James
Mattis at the U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) in Tampa, Florida. Prior
to joining CENTCOM, Mr. Asgard served as Director of the Iran Regional
Presence Office in Dubai, the U.S. Government’s primary field operation
concerning Iran.

Chapter Co-Hosts Panel Presentation on Iranian Transaction Regulations

Washington, D.C. –
On
Thursday, February 17th, PAAIA and the Washington D.C. Chapter of the
Iranian American Bar Association (IABA) hosted an informative panel
presentation entitled “2011 OFAC Update: Iran Sanctions.” This event,
which was hosted by Venable, LLP, allowed for a unique exchange of
dialogue between the Iranian American community, legal experts, and
U.S. Government officials from the Treasury Department’s Office of
Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regarding current trade law and
regulations between the United States and Iran.

Meet Sabrina
Setareh Kraus: Iranian American Candidate for Civil Court Judge in New
York City

– The
Public Affairs Alliance of Iranian American (PAAIA) and its connected
PAC, the Iranian American Political Action Committee (IAPAC), recently
had the opportunity to sit down with Housing Court Judge Sabrina
Setareh Kraus and discuss her campaign for Civil Court Judge in New
York City. If successful, Sabrina would become the first American of
Iranian descent to be elected to public office in New York City. 

Sabrina
received her undergraduate degree from Colgate University in 1988, with
a major in International Relations and French Literature. She earned
her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, in 1991.
