PAAIA’s Resource Center for the P5+1 Iran Nuclear Negotiations

On November 24, 2013, Iran and the P5+1 (United States, United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, and Germany) outlined a plan to reach a comprehensive long-standing agreement to ensure that Iran’s nuclear program is only used for peaceful purposes. The agreement, known as the Joint Plan of Action, was extended in July 2014 and again in November 2014. The November extension eventually led to an April 2015 framework agreement and then a July 2015 final agreement, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

Like much of the world, Iranian Americans have followed the Iran nuclear negotiations and ensuing developments with great interest. This page serves as a compilation of information provided by the U.S. government on the negotiations as well as view points from members of Congress, editorials from leading news sources, and analysis from foreign policy and national security experts.

While PAAIA supports efforts to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the decade-long stalemate over Iran’s nuclear program, we recognize the importance of ensuring that Iranian Americans are well informed and aware of the positions held by their elected officials and others related to this matter.
