
May 21, 2009 – On May 11, 2009, Orange County’s PBS station, KOCE, presented viewers in the Los Angeles television market one of the most engaging and uplifting live local pledge drives to date. With the help of PAAIA’s sponsorship and valuable volunteer support, the drive was a major success, not only gaining significant financial support, but also promoting the advancements of the Iranian American community. During the live drive, the esteemed Rick Steves’ Iran: Yesterday and Today program was aired, giving viewers the opportunity to gain exposure to the rich culture and heritage of Iran.
PAAIA’s Public Relations Director, Rudi Bakhtiar, as well as members of PAAIA’s Board of Directors, Shahrzad Ardalan, Mariam Khosravani, and Dr. Firouz Nader, were also on-the-air as representatives of the Iranian American community.
Following the live broadcast and the repeat, KOCE had gleaned more than $41,000 in pledges and another $19,000 in sponsorship support for a total of $60,542.
