2008 Presidential Election GuidePAAIA provides you with the opportunity to review each of the candidates’ positions on major issues affecting Iranian Americans, including civil liberties, immigration, and U.S.-Iran relations.
The presidential election of 2008, scheduled for Tuesday, November 4th, will be the 56th election for the President and Vice President of the United States of America. The Democratic Party has chosen Barack Obama, the junior U.S. Senator from Illinois, as its nominee, while the Republican Party has chosen John McCain, the senior U.S. Senator from Arizona. Each section provides a link to the candidate’s website, offering users multiple opportunities to get involved, as well as a host of other resources for individuals seeking additional information on the candidates and the general election process. In recognition of our community’s growing civic involvement, both the Obama and McCain campaigns have designated specific committees and coalitions to engage Iranian Americans. Whenever you contact or get involved with a campaign, be certain to identify yourself as an Iranian American so the campaign knows who we are and what issues are important us, and takes note of our civic engagement.
