We work to bring Iranian Americans together, expand opportunities for the active participation of Iranian Americans in the democratic process at all levels of government and in the public debate, and to foster greater understanding of our community and its Persian heritage.

As individuals, Iranian Americans have garnered significant achievements in all aspects of American life in the past three decades. We are at the forefront of scientific and medical breakthroughs; we are major protagonists in the world of high technology entrepreneurship; we occupy tenured positions at the nation's most distinguished universities; we are professional athletes and world record holders; we have been nominated for Academy Awards and have been a force behind some of the most visible motion picture productions; we are partners at prestigious law firms and serve the public interest as prosecutors; and we are senior executives at Fortune 50 companies.

There is now a critical mass of Iranian Americans who are sufficiently well-established and civic-minded to come together and give a credible and influential voice to the community, and to promote greater understanding.

PAAIA's logo in the shape of a flame represents an artistic rendition of the word PAAIA in Persian or Farsi script. In the Persian language, PAAIA (pronounced PÂYÂ) means enduring, and the flame of our logo represents the many positive aspects of our Iranian heritage that have endured over millennia, and the enduring ideals of human rights, democracy, rule of law and tolerance that form the foundation upon which America stands. The three dots of the Persian script represent our core missions of community building, image building and influence building. We are intent on seeing PAAIA endure as an institution representing the Iranian American community and contributing to American society.

We acknowledge and thank Ms. Mojgan Zare who graciously volunteered her time and creative energy to PAAIA and designed our logo.
